Alxndr London is one of the most exciting and important artists in the city’s musical landscape right now. Cultishly pursuing his own, unrestrained musical trajectory, the singer/songwriter from East London is exploring the thin veil between fantasy and reality; from alternative soul to experimental electronica.
A true creative whilst maintaining an unmistakable warmth and character caught the eye of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, who featured the elusive wanderer on her ‘New Names to Watch in 2016’ list, whilst i-D premiered his sound as “nu-soul soaked electronica”. With his first release of the year, “XXX” however, Alxndr gives us so much more than that – an expressive, invigorating and cerebral explorative journey through these genres, bristling with surprises and unexpected touches.
In just over a year, Alxndr London’s ethereal experiments have garnered over half a million plays on Soundcloud, releasing 5 singles and a June 2016 feature on Dutch collective Kraak and Smaak’s album. With steady and ever-increasing support from, i-D, Stereogum, The FADER, Pigeons & Planes, Clash, NOTION, AFROPUNK, The 405 and Earmilk, Alxndr London has more in store for us this year, having already played Somerset House’s Summer Music Series and with a headline show to be confirmed shortly.
Constantly exciting, unexpected and thoroughly of his cultural melting pot of a city, Alxndr London’s sphere of influence continues to grow. His debut EP is due for release this autumn.
